Do You Have Yada for the Lord? Growing Real, Personal Knowledge of God

“Yada" is the Hebrew word for to know. But it doesn’t mean knowing about someone. It means truly knowing them. Deeply. Personally. Intimately.

In Hosea 4–11, God confronts Israel because they lacked true knowledge of Him. They knew the stories, the rituals, the history… but they didn’t know Yahweh. Not in relationship. Not in devotion. Not in the way He desired.

And He wants you to have yada of Him.

Are you confident in your yada of the Father?

Our Lord created the universe and everything in it — time, matter, physics, chemistry, biology. You may know these facts. But Scripture reminds us that before you were even born, He knew you (Jeremiah 1:5). That is yada. That is personal. That is relational.

God is longing for that same depth of relationship with you today.

And the best place to begin is simple: talk to Him.

Prayer is a conversation. Yes, there are formal prayers. And yes, “The Lord’s Prayer” gives us a beautiful framework for how to approach God. But more than anything, He wants to hear your voice. Your thoughts. Your gratitude. Your frustrations. Your questions. Your day.

Just start talking.

And when you’re ready to go deeper in your yada with the Lord, open His Word. Scripture is where God reveals His heart, His character, His promises, and His ways.
