God Owns It All — So Use What He’s Given You
Earlier this week, while cleaning up my desk, I came across the February edition of Decision: The Evangelical Voice for Today. I had left it open on an article about David Green, the founder of Hobby Lobby. The title made me pause and reflect:
“God Owns It All.”
What a simple, powerful, absolutely true statement.
And yet… how easily we forget it.
In the article, David Green shared something that stuck with me:
“Some of us don’t have vast financial resources. But we have time, talent, whatever God has given us. We need to use it.”
That line hit home. Not all of us are blessed with overflowing bank accounts. Some months feel tighter than others. But God has given each of us something — time, talent, voice, compassion, creativity, strength, prayer, encouragement. And He expects us to use those gifts for His glory.
Tonight, our church is hosting a Worship Night — prayer and music, a chance to gather and celebrate our Lord. My wallet may be tight this month, but time I can carve out. And my voice — not great, but I can carry a tune — I can certainly offer that in praise. These are gifts from God: my time, my voice, my heart‑felt worship. So tonight, I’m simply returning them to Him.
Because that’s the truth behind “God owns it all.”
Everything we have — big or small — is His.
And when we give it back, He multiplies it.
This day is a gift.
Your work is a gift.
Your abilities, your opportunities, your breath — all gifts.
So as you go through your day, remember: God owns it all.
And if you spend time in the morning in devotion — wonderful. But don’t let that be the end of the conversation. Talk to Him again at lunch. Whisper a prayer in the car. Thank Him during a quiet moment. Invite Him into the middle of your daily journey.
He wants to be involved.
He wants to stay close.
He wants you to remember Him, walk with Him, and speak with Him.
Use what He’s given you today — because it all belongs to Him anyway.
