Obey God, Trust His Timing, and Leave the Consequences to Him

Charles Stanley once said something simple but deeply challenging:

“Obey God and leave the consequences to Him.”

Most Christians know that anxiety, nervousness, and worry are not from God. We know they distract us, drain us, and pull our attention away from the One who holds our future. And in a world like ours — wars in the Middle East, unrest across Europe, fractured alliances, rising inflation, layoffs, and a news cycle built on fear — distraction is everywhere.

But God has already spoken to the anxiety of our age:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

Worry is a thief.

It steals today’s peace and blinds us to tomorrow’s promise.

The antidote is simple:

Start with prayer.

Then make plans based on those prayers — asking for God’s wisdom, God’s timing, and God’s guidance.

And when He leads, follow.

When Progress Feels Slow

Recently, we were talking about our plans for God’s Corner Store. We still have a vision to reach millions with the Gospel through faith‑centered apparel and content. That hasn’t changed. But God’s timing… is definitely not our timing.

Between kids, elder parents, responsibilities, work, church, friendships — some weeks feel like burnout is right around the corner. Progress feels slow. Frustration creeps in. And it’s easy to wonder if anything is actually happening beneath the surface.

That’s when I remembered the moso bamboo.

I heard about it months ago in a sermon, and it stuck with me.

In its first year, moso bamboo grows to only about four inches.

Small. Unimpressive. Almost invisible.

But come back a few years later…

and that same bamboo can grow four feet in a single 24‑hour period.

Its growth is exponential — but only after years of unseen development underground.

Sometimes God grows us the same way.

We don’t see the progress.

We don’t see the roots strengthening.

We don’t see the foundation He’s building.

But obedience today becomes exponential growth tomorrow.

If we take Charles Stanley’s advice — obey God and leave the consequences to Him — then we can trust that when the time is right, the growth will come. And when it comes, it will be unmistakable.
