CALLED to Shine Wherever We Stand

This week I’m writing from a massive retail conference — about 25,000 people all gathered under one roof. It’s busy, loud, full of ideas, products, networking, and opportunity. But yesterday morning, tucked away in a small room off the main hall, something different happened.

About 40–50 of us met for a simple prayer breakfast.

Coffee. A muffin. Some fellowship. A few powerful testimonies.

Nothing flashy — just Believers gathering before the day began.

But what struck me most wasn’t the stories or the size of the group.

It was the final reminder from the conference chair — who, wonderfully, is a follower of Jesus.

She looked around that small room and said:

“This room is a beacon. Out there are 25,000 people. This week, we get to shine God’s light to every one of them.”

That hit me.

Because she’s right — every single day, whether we’re at a conference, at work, behind a counter, or meeting with customers, we are stepping into moments God has prepared. Moments where His light can break into someone’s darkness. Moments where a smile, a kind word, or a gentle encouragement becomes a seed of hope.

We are set apart.

We are called.

We are Christ’s voice in a world that desperately needs truth, love, and clarity.

So today — wherever God places you — don’t miss the opportunity.

Smile at someone.

Speak kindly.

Encourage a stranger.

Let someone know they are seen, valued, and loved by God.

You don’t need a microphone or a stage.

You just need to be willing.

Because the light of Christ shines beautifully through ordinary moments.
